The following institutes and scientific institutions are involved in the high-profile area of Health Sciences:

The Institute for Public Health and Nursing Research (IPP) specialises in the field of healthcare, healthcare provision and nursing research. In addition to science and research, staff at the IPP is also involved in facilitating practice transfer and policy advice.

The Health, Long-Term Care and Pensions Department at SOCIUM Research Center on Inequality and Social Policy (formerly ZeS) makes substantial contributions to the high-profile area including economic evaluations of current health policy reforms and international comparative healthcare system research.

The Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology – BIPS GmbH investigates the whole spectrum of epidemiological research. Four departments examine the aetiology of disease and draw up, implement and evaluate prevention measures in order to derive recommendations for practical application and policy measures.

The Bremen Competence Center for Clinical Trials (KKSB) is an institute jointly run by the University of Bremen and the clinical centre “Bremen-Mitte”, who have a framework agreement on scientific cooperation. The Competence Center offers medical practitioners as well as natural scientists and healthcare researchers involved in clinical or healthcare research the infrastructure and know-how for carrying out trials and studies. The Center’s own research focuses on methodological questions concerning research design and the biometrical evaluation of clinical trials.

The Institute for Information, Health and Medical Law (IGMR) concerns itself with legal science, practice and policy issues concerning the regulation of health and information law. Work at the IGMR comprises knowledge transfer, practical cooperation, the organisation of events, and scientific consultancy services for policymakers and associations on current issues relating to health and information law.
