This includes the "Bremen Cancer Registry," which is based at BIPS and for which BIPS conducts all necessary analyses. The objectives of cancer registration are the research of cancer causes, the development of effective prevention and early detection measures, and the improvement of care for affected patients. The duties of the cancer registries are regulated by both federal and state law. Accordingly, all clinics and practices located in the federal state of Bremen that diagnose or treat cancer in a patient are required to report data to the Bremen Cancer Registry.
