Across four scientific departments, institute staff examine the etiology of diseases and develop preventive measures. These measures are then implemented and evaluated, enabling the formulation of recommendations for practice and policy.

Competence Center for Clinical Trials Bremen
The Competence Center for Clinical Trials Bremen is a collaborative facility of the University of Bremen and Klinikum Bremen-Mitte, established through a framework agreement for scientific cooperation. The center offers competencies and infrastructure for study implementation to all physicians or natural and health scientists engaged in clinical research or health research. Its research focuses primarily on methodological questions concerning the design and biometric evaluation of clinical trials.
