The InnovationsCommunity Urban Health transfer project has issued its second call for ideas on the topics of “Active Mobility” and “New Implementation Alliances.” The project is seeking creative, actionable project ideas.

Every day, large volumes of health data are generated – in doctor's offices, research projects and apps. It is only when these data are brought together that a clear picture of our health emerges. On board the MS Wissenschaft 2026, NFDI4Health demonstrates at an interactive station how new knowledge is created from many individual pieces of data – and why data protection is indispensable.

This year's European Congress of Radiology (ECR), which will take place in Vienna from March 4 to 8, has the inspiring motto “Rays of Knowledge.” The meeting will highlight progressive education, multidisciplinary collaboration, and technological advancement, illuminating the path toward patient-centred, knowledge-driven imaging practice. Fraunhofer MEVIS is actively involved in shaping the ECR 2026 with a variety of contributions.

The ProKIP project has received the Robert Bosch Foundation's special ‘Ideas for Impact’ award for 2026. On Thursday, 26 Feb-ruary 2026, the researchers in Professor Karin Wolf-Ostermann's team from Institute of Public Health and Nursing Research were honoured.

The German Commission for Radiological Protection (SSK) has a new Executive Board – and Prof. Dr. Hajo Zeeb remains part of the leadership. The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety has reappointed the committee for 2026. Zeeb, head of the Prevention and Evaluation Department at the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology (BIPS), will continue to serve as deputy chair and also heads the SSK crisis management team.

IPPinfo published in a new format as an online magazine

Prof. Dr. Vanessa Didelez has been awarded the prestigious Suffrage Science Award in the category of mathematics and computer science. The award honors outstanding female scientists who set standards through excellent research and social engagement.

Prof. Dr. Hajo Zeeb, Head of the Prevention and Evaluation Department, and Prof. Dr. Ulrike Haug, Head of the Clinical Epidemiology Department, both at the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology – BIPS in Bremen, have published a joint article in the German Cancer Society's magazine Hoffnungsträger Prävention (Prevention: A Beacon of Hope).

Data Train is a hybrid professional development programme that enhances the data literacy of researchers at all career stages. The course is a central component of the NFDI4Health FAIR training programme. The Starter Track for beginners will start its next round on 12 February 2026.
